I stop revieiwng the Cups new fleet to foucs on rumors about Russell Coutts.
He launched World Sailing League with Paul Cayard. a new multihull formula that I think will be a success ( I love multihulls, I’m an hobiecatter). but he is also on the fore because Sailing Anarchy is claiming a rumor in its home page.

What of RC? So far each time Mr. Ernesto has come with hat (and checkbook) in hand, Mr Coutts has just laughed and said “good luck.” So why are Bertarelli and Butterworth in Miami next week racing Farr 40s instead of concentrating on the very pressing business at hand in Valencia? Well, just ask yourselves where Mr Coutts will also be next week.

Then do the math. As every Anarchist knows, 1 + 1 = 3 million.

Hoping that could be true (even if this it could be a real disgrace for his competitors), I think Russell Coutts is not that kind of man who sold his word away. So the Challengers can breathe a sigh of relief reading this interview on NZ Herald. Coutts says:

NZ Herald: How do you feel about not being in it (The America’s Cup)? Is there any chance you will rejoin Alinghi for this Cup?
Russel Coutts: “There is no chance I will rejoin Alinghi. There is no doubt I will miss being involved in the racing. But as a result of not being able to compete in the America’s Cup, I have changed direction a bit and sailed a large variety of boats. I must say I am enjoying sailing more high-performance boats and maybe that is where the Cup will head in the future.”

After this Cup it is definitely time for a rule change. Most people seem to be talking about a two-year cycle rather than four years.

Here it is the new site - Just before Valentine Day

It is not still complete because I’m going to change categories to improve blog navigation and to add some interesting and “social” plugins but the most part of restyling is done.
Obviously every feedback is welcome.

Google Maps to georeference posts do not still work properly, I’ll fix them up as soon as possible.

Let me point your attention on the W4V Store.
I hope it will help me to better sustain the effort to maintain this blog. This task is going to be tougher and tougher and I need to cover some basic costs.

I thought that books, video and apparels provided by Amazon could be useful and interesting for W4V readers.

gli equipaggi e i team di coppa america sono in giro per il mondo a regatare. Melges 24 e match Racing Paolo Cian. Chris Dixon è dappertutto, sembra obiquo. Nei prossimi giorni cercherò di ricostruire il quadro della situazione di Agosto e Settembre.
Ma un punto fermo c’è. Mascalzone Latino è a Newport e ha vinto il mondiale Farr 40. Vincenzo Onorato al timone e Russell Coutts alla tattica.

La Star nonostante sia una barca straordinaria contava pochi iscritti. Il quarto posto è lodevole ma non vale certo un quarto posto nei 470 o nei Finn.
Bello il risultato di Matilde Fabbri, sesta nei laser radial e di Poggi nei Finn. I Sibello nei 49er meritavano forse di più. I 470 possono migliorare senz’altro.

Sardegna e Mascalzone Latino allungano il distacco in testa alla Sardinia Rolex Cup

Al termine della quarta giornata della Sardinia Rolex Cup, in corso nelle acque della Costa Smeralda, la squadra Sardegna -composta da Mascalzone Latino, Santa Ana e Mintaka- porta il suo distacco a 15 punti sul suo diretto inseguitore, la squadra che corre in rappresentanza della Germania, e mette una seria ipoteca sul successo finale. E, grazie a un secondo ed ad un terzo posto, l’equipaggio di Vincenzo Onorato, al timone, e Russell Coutts, alla tattica, si conferma al primo posto nella flotta dei Farr 40 con 20 punti, seguito da Joe Fly con 25 e punti e Nerone Mutua Madrilena con 28.
